What Makes Diesel Engine Oil Different?

Diesel engines produce significantly more heat than the typical gasoline engine, so it requires engine oil that can better mitigate this heat to keep the moving parts of the engine cool. The diesel combustion process also leaves behind more residue and soot that is the job of the engine oil to pick up and carry to the engine oil filter. This requires diesel engine oil to have a thicker consistency than conventional oil, as well as more chemical additives to help keep the interior of the engine clean. We recommend that you have your diesel engine oil changed at least once a year or every 10,000 miles if you use synthetic diesel engine oil, but be sure to check your model's owner's manual for the most accurate oil change interval.
