Performance
Under the hood, the VW Tiguan is motivated by a capable 2.0-liter turbocharged engine sending 201 horsepower via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new Tiguan weighs around 170 pounds less than the original model, helping both fuel economy and acceleration. If you're seeking improved handling and all-season control, VW's 4MOTION® all-wheel-drive system is standard on SEL R-Line models and available for supporting tiers and includes selectable Active Control drive modes like Eco, Comfort, Street, Snow, and Off-Road.
Design and Accommodations
The new Tiguan boasts new wheels and colors across the range. Standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are quickly replaced on volume trims with 19-inch wheels, while top trims are 20 inches. A striking color palette includes three new options, including Avocado Green Pearl, Sandstone Uni and Monterey Blue Pearl, adding a vibrant touch to the vehicle's bold styling.
Moving into the cabin, the 2025 Tiguan showcases significant upgrades in interior quality as well as a clean, elegant design. Premium materials, such as genuine American walnut wood décor, a wrapped and double-stitched center console, upgraded Savona leather interiors, and cloth seats with an embossed design give the cabin an upscale feel. The gear selector has now been moved onto the steering column, freeing up space for a large center console that enhances storage space in the cabin. The Tiguan is offered exclusively in a two-row configuration for the North American region.
Technology and Safety
A Volkswagen Digital Cockpit comes standard on all Tiguan models, allowing you to configure the digital gauge cluster to your view preferences. The entry-level Tiguan S comes with a 12.9" Touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, providing convenient access to features like hands-free calls and messages, Google or Apple Maps, streaming media, and more. Wireless phone charging and heated front seats also come standard with any 2025 Tiguan trim. Other available features include head-up display, massaging front seats, ventilated front seats, real leather seating surfaces and real wood decor.
The VW Tiguan also offers enhanced confidence and convenience with a full complement of IQ.DRIVE advanced safety technologies. Autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are standard across the lineup, while additional driver aids are available for the base model and standard on higher tiers, including:
- Lane Keeping System
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go
- Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance)
- Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor and intervention)
